Kofi Owusu Peprah holds live recording for maiden album

Gospel artiste, Kofi Owusu Peprah, is set to host a live recording for his maiden album The Father’s Gift planned for Silicon House, behind the Tesano Baptist church in Accra on Saturday, May 22.

The event, which will start at 5 p.m. is intended to give patrons a better feel and meaning of the songs on the album through live recordings.

According to Kofi Owusu Peprah, the maiden album was in honour of his father, Rev George Owusu Mensah, popularly known as ROPS of Matwen fame.

In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, the product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) said he named the album The Father’s Gift in honour of his father’s contribution and influence in his life.

He mentioned that as a son whose path has been influenced by his father, it was not out of place to honour his father with his first album as a professional singer.

“My maiden album means so much to me particularly because it will be a measure of how far I will go in this ministry but I’m confident that it will be successful.

“I’m delighted to know that I have a father and mentor who started walking this path more than three decades now and is ready to hold my hand and lead me as a mentor on this journey of mine as a new traveller,” he stated.

Music can be a very private experience and the emotional reaction and liberation that can come from listening to songs can be very satisfying.

With so much access to pre-recorded, digital music literally at our fingertips, many artistes tend to neglect the importance of live recording. However, with the knowledge of it’s impact gradually gaining roots, musicians, particularly those in the Gospel sector have adopted the style.

The likes of Joe Mettle, Diana Hamilton, Ohemaa Mercy and MOG have all tapped into that experience and in the view of Kofi Owusu Peprah, live recording connects performers with the audience in a deeply intimate and powerful way.

At present, the artiste who is known for songs such as Big God, Matwen, Amen, Yesu Nyame Ba is the music Director at International Central Gospel Church (Evangel Temple) located at New Dawhenya and is also a backing vocalist for Joe Mettle Ministries.
