Liz Kwabie’s Grateful to fathers

The “noise” about the celebration of father’s day often do not match that of mother’s day but Takoradi based gospel artiste, Liz Kwabi, believes fathers play vital roles in the society and should be honourably celebrated as well.

As father’s day approaches, Liz has summed up her opinion in her latest piece called Grateful, an appreciation to fathers. Gratitude, the title track of her third album, is inspired by her father’s role in providing her needs and giving her the best of life any child would desire.

“I call my daddy a hero because he toiled to provide my siblings and I the best of everything. It’s unfortunate that he is no more but I want him to know that I appreciate the role he played in the family and deserves the honour,” she told Showbiz last week.

Often, society has chastised fathers for shunning their divine roles in the family especially that of their children. The act has led to fathers being ignored and not catered for in their old age but the trend, Liz Kwabi says shouldn’t be encouraged.

On Grateful, she sings about the need for people to forgive the sins of their fathers and shower them with love and care irrespective of what they did in the past.

“Many people tend to pay their fathers back when they grow up but I think that if God blesses you, irrespective of what your dad did in your life, you shouldn’t abandon him. We must let bygones be bygones because fathers are a blessing in everyone’s life,” she stated.

This Sunday, June 12, at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Liz will launch her Grateful album which would have artistes including Amy Newman, KODA, Evangelist Ernestina Konney, Mrs Mercy Ofori, Stephen Frimpong, Ivan Anyekese and Minister Sammy Forson in attendance to support.

The launch is also expected to be graced with the cutting of a cake to commemorate father’s day which falls on  Sunday,  June 19.

She expressed her appreciation to her husband and her church, particularly her pastor and pastor’s husband for the support since she started doing music professionally in 2007.
