A night of great music as Oak Plaza celebrates Akosua Adjepong
If patrons to Oak Plaza Hotel's Dinner With The Stars event had allowed the cold weather and windy conditions to make them stay at home last Friday, August 30, they would have missed out on all the fun and excitement as veteran singer, Akosua Adjepong was celebrated.
Held on the theme: “Celebrating Akosua Adjepong 30@50,” it was a night of great food, music and a lot of dancing.
The event brought together people from all walks of life including family and friends of Akosua Adjepong and industry players such as Highlife musicians Kofi Nti and Kofi B who all came to show support.

The 1250 band was good
Before the main show, the 1250 Band served patrons with great tunes. The audience were delighted by the band’s performance because although the members were young, they showed amazing talent and skill on the various instruments as they played songs from both the old and new school.
The woman of the night, Akosua Adjepong, came on stage dressed in a tank top, jeans and a robe made from African print and also sported a cap.

Akosua performed for about two hours singing some of her popular songs including Frema and a soon-to-be released song titled Stupid Owu.
For the majority of her time on the stage, the singer, who is a very good dancer, entertained the audience with various dances such as Zanku and Gwaragwara.
She constantly interacted with the patrons, talking to them at points in her performance or dancing with some of them.
Before she took to the stage to perform, Akosua Adjepong had been honoured by management of Oak Plaza Hotel and telecommunications giant MTN with some gifts and an artwork.

Former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Diana Hopeson, who happened to celebrate her birthday that same day was there to celebrate with her friend.
She sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Akosua and commended her for not allowing age come between her and the music industry. Mrs Hopeson encouraged her not to slow down even as celebrated 30 years in the industry.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz after the show, Akosua Adjepong expressed gratitude for the love shown her. “I’m really overwhelmed, I appreciate the love and all, I’m just thankful to God for everything,” she said.
In answer to how long it took her to rehearse for such an energetic performance and what is next for her after 30 years of being in the industry, she said, “It’s just the Grace of God, I didn’t really decide I was going to use this amount of time or number of days to rehearse, everything just came to me tonight.

“For the way forward, I have some few singles that I will be dropping so we are still working.”
Kofi Nti gave a performance and said his love for Akosua Adjepong won’t end. “I love this woman, I respect her and in the Highlife fraternity, I will always see her as a legend.”
Dinner With the Stars was hosted by TV3’s Johnnie Hughes and the Bravo Band from the Ghana Immigration Service backed the artistes.
