This vibrant festival, which is marking its 14th anniversary this year brings together artists, musicians, dancers, and performers from all over Ghana and beyond, showcasing their talents in James Town, one of Accra's oldest neighbourhoods.

This year's festival, themed "And Now An End To The Empire Of Horrors," runs from August 19-25 at the Blackstar Square.

Inspired by the rich history of the Gulf of Guinea, Chale Wote 2024 delves into the fascinating tales of mortal and fantastic gods, serving as allegories for the social conditions born from colonialism.

The event explores the region's origins, its demise, and the rebirth of its sacred sciences, long forgotten. Through art and entertainment, Chale Wote 2024 will showcase a diverse array of counter-narratives, challenging dominant perspectives and celebrating the rebirth of this sacred heritage.

Hence, The Day of ReMembering procession provided a unique platform for artists to engage with the community and its streets.

As participants mostly clad in white attires walk through the procession, they are immersed in a vibrant display of social imagination, while also confronting the challenges faced by the community.

Seeing the community's creativity and strength also inspires and motivates artists since it helps them connect with the community and sparks new ideas for their own art.
