‘Club Live’ puts shine on Ghanaian music

Two things guests can bank on to flow in liberal quantities at a Club Live event, apart from Club beer, is live made-in-Ghana music offered by some of the nation’s best-known artistes.

That celebration of Ghanaian music is what the Club Live programme has been about since it took off last Easter at Kwahu Pepease in the Eastern Region.

The live bashes have now been compiled into a 12-episode television series that airs every Sunday from 5:30pm- 6:30pm on TV3 and hosted by Mikki Osei Berko, better known as Master Richard.

Club Live has so far hosted live performances by stars such as Amakye Dede, Kwabena Kwabena, Akosua Adjepong, Paapa Yankson, Okyeame Kwame, Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Pat Thomas.

The series features entertaining live recordings of Ghanaian music mixed with insightful interviews on the careers of the artistes, their views on the current state of Ghanaian music and their expectations of the future.

“The primary aim of Club Live is to promote Ghana’s iconic beer and also help revive and project Ghana’s iconic music which is highlife. We need to put in all the effort we can to bring it to the fore again,” says Master Richard, host of the show.

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) produces Club Beer and one of the company’s marketing executives, Samori Gambrah, noted on one of the Club Live episodes that  highlife was Ghana’s authentic live band music with strong appeal and his outfit was” exhilarated to be associated with such amazing artistes and highlife music as a whole.”

Over the years, ABL has supported and sponsored the Ghana Music Week festivals as well as several traditional festivals across the country.

Upcoming Club Live episodes are expected to feature live performances from artistes such as Samini, Kofi B, Obrafour, Kofi Nti, Adane Best, Nana Yaa, Gasmilla and Ofie Kodjoe.
