CLUB-Miss Tourism Ghana sparkles in Thailand
Reigning CLUB-Miss Tourism Ghana 2012, Esinam Awunyo, did
her best to sell Ghana to the wider world when she participated in this year’s
Miss Tourism World Pageant held last Sunday, December 16 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Fifty-eight contestants participated in the pageant which saw Miss Tourism Russia crowned Miss Tourism World 2012. Miss Tourism Equatorial Guinea was named Miss Tourism Africa with Esinam coming up as Miss Tourism Africa first runner-up.
Determined to highlight aspects of Ghana’s rich cultural history, CLUB-Miss Tourism Ghana sparkled in ‘otofo’, a traditional outfit of the Ga-Dangbe people during the opening act which included performances by members of the famous Siam Niramit Theatre of Bangkok
In the subsequent evening gown segment, Esinam spotlighted Ghana's contemporary fashion movement in a stunning Da Viva print evening gown designed by Mary Squire Beumer, complete with a matching beaded necklace and earrings from Chic Accessories by Siba.
In a pre-judging segment held on Saturday, December 15, Esinam took the opportunity to promote Ghana's renowned reputation as one of the world's friendliest nations. Comparing the hospitality she experienced in Thailand with that of Ghana's, CLUB-Miss Tourism Ghana 2012 was an articulate ambassador.
Wearing another beautiful Da Viva gown designed by House of Micky and her Darling Hair pulled away from her face in a flattering style, Esinam noted she was particularly impressed with the warmth of the Thai people.
"It was an honour to represent Ghana on the world stage," she said of her experience at the pageant which was the culmination of a two-week whirlwind in Thailand. The contestants exchanged cultures as they visited many key tourist sites including the Emerald Temple, King’s Palace and Hat Yai City.
