Cutie Bridal: The bride slayers

It is the dream of most students to land a good job after school but this does not always become a reality. So when she failed to get a blue collar job after school, Portia Gyeni-Boateng decided to take her fate into her hands.

The twenty something year old graduate of Accountancy from Central University fell on her talent in make-up artistry and started a small make-up studio and classes in her parent’s home.

And just like her favourite quote, “don’t despise small beginnings”, her dream has blossomed and today, she is the owner of Cutie Bridal and Cutie Bridal Beauty School.

“ I don’t have formal training in make-up artistry. I have always had this ability in me so when after school, no company was ready to employ me, I took this bold step and I must acknowledge that it has been worth the risk,” she proudly said pointing at some of her works displayed in the studio.

Portia Gyeni-Boateng is the brain behind Cutie Bridal

Situated at Dansoman Asoredanho opposite the Seventh Day Adventist Church headquatres, Cutie Bridal, since its inception in 2015, has become a one- stop shop for would-be brides.

The shop is home to all the needed accessories to make a bride and her bridal train look gorgeous for the big day.

Some of the accessories available at Cutie Bridal Shop are bridal veil, bridal bouquet, hair jewellery, bridal jewellery set, bachelorette party items, bridal shoes, bridal robes, fascinators, clutches bags and customised fans as well as retail of make-up products. The place also offers bridal makeover and hairstyling.

Don’t forget to carry a clutch

Within a short period of favourably competing in the make-up industry, Cutie Bridal has earned a reputation of offering chic and quality products and services for clients.

It’s this quality that has made the brand popular and continue to attract huge patronage. However, Portia disclosed to Showbiz that she is not too particular about having celebs as clients.

“Let me tell you the truth, it’s better to have ordinary people as your clients than celebrities. They pay you deservedly for your services unlike the stars. So for me, I work on my clients to make them feel like celebrities,” she stated.

A practical lesson at the beauty school

Although she owns Cutie Bridal, it is handled by a team of 10 chief make-up artistes and more than 20 sub make-up artistes. “I don’t joke with my team at all. They have been my driving force and have helped me to achieve my dreams. I would say I’m lucky to have such dedicated people poised to make my dream come true,” she said.
In a bid to expand her territory, Portia established the Cutie Bridal Beauty School located at Mataheko this year to train young people pedicure, manicure, weaves, make-up and hairstyling.

Clients have the option of booking for appointments either via social media, (Instagram) or by phone at an affordable price. Currently, Cutie Bridal is running a promotion where brides are assured of quality irrespective of social status.
“Cutie Bridal gives you that chic look for the great moment”, Portia added.
