Divas to the rescue of children
No matter how liberated or feminists they may feel in their bones, women are always likely to be linked to children and that is why it is not surprising that six brilliant female musicians from Ghana, Nigeria and France are itching to help raise funds for children on March 22 at the National Theatre.

That’s when they perform for the benefit of children at the Dream Child 3 concert being organised for the Dream Child Foundation by Kofi Amoakohene’s Scratch Studios.
The women poised to express their love and help create better circumstances for children at the concert are Becca, Elivava, Stephanie Benson and Paulette Broohm from Ghana; Yinka Davies from Nigeria and acclaimed French flutist, Sabine Boyer.
“Women will always be concerned about children and there is nothing more exciting for us as women, to use our musical talents to bring attention to the needs of children,” says Elivava.
The Dream Child Foundation, founded by Ben Brako and Kofi Amoakohene, has over the last three years tried to empower needy African children to grow up into responsible adults.
It has done that by raising funds through a major concert each year and giving the money to a specific organisation working in children’s interests.
Proceeds from this year’s concert will go to benefit Orphan Aid Africa which works to put orphans in foster care instead of institutions.
Other artistes billed to perform at the March 22 concert are Paul Bilson, Steve Bedi, Kunle Ayo and Ben Brako. The world-famous Osibisa band with guitarists Wendel Richardson and Greg Brown in attendance will also feature at the show.
