The fashion week  was from  October 30 to November 3.   and Hosted by  African Fashion International (AFI). Members of the show’s committee include Dr. Samuel Kwadwo Frimpong, Executive Director, Mr Farouk Alui Mahama, son of the late Alui Mahama, Mr O.B. Amoah, MP for  Akuapim South and Alhaji Fuseini Meigah, Chairman, Nasara Club. The two young Ghanaian designers were the toast of the media when they showed their clothes in the  Tswane City Hall in Pretoria.

Both designers have shown their creativity in South Africa on previous occasions, and this year’s Fashion Week Africa was an opportunity for them to demonstrate how far Ghanaian designers had come in rubbing shoulders with colleagues from other places.

“Ghana’s fashion industry is growing and we must try and focus one major fashion week instead of so many fashion shows. We need to keep on being creative and striving to improve the quality of our products,” Mina told journalists at the end of her show.

As part of the Fashion Week, AFI,  presented a retail element, the Africa Fashion Trade Expo (AFTE), which allowed designers the chance to deal directly with buyers and the media, as well as have business-to-consumer sales directly to the public.
