Eddie SAnte releases debut album today
Gospel musician and journalist Eddie SAnte has charted a new course in his music ministry with the release of his debut album, Faithful God, a project he describes as both a divine assignment and the culmination of years of patience, faith and perseverance.
For the seasoned chorister and former Regional Page/Supplements Editor at the Daily Graphic, the 10-track album is more than just a musical project. It represents the beginning of what he believes is a God-ordained journey after years away from active recording until last year.
Speaking with Graphic Showbiz, Eddie SAnte said the album was inspired by a deep conviction that the songs entrusted to him by God had to be shared with the world.
“I have always wanted to come up with an album because I have a tall list of songs craving my attention. I also see myself as having been given a mandate by God who gave me the songs, to release them and I wouldn’t want to be found wanting when I appear before Him when my work on earth is done,” he said.
Although Faithful God is his first official album release under the Eddie SAnte name, the gospel artiste noted that listeners should expect a rich blend of sounds and styles.
“There is something for everyone because although overall it is a gospel album, there are different compelling genres to sample,” he added.
The album features 10 songs — Great is Thy Faithfulness, He’s So Good, I Just Wanna Be Like You, We Lift You Up, I Carry The Fire, WͻbƐ Nyogmͻ Konklo, Afore, You Are Here, I See Your Glory and Trust and Obey.
According to him, previously released singles such as Faithful God, Afɔre, We Lift You Up and I See Your Glory served as stepping stones towards the complete project.
“The singles were actually the build-up to the album titled Faithful God. Recording does not come cheap and requires a lot of resources, especially financing, but I decided to trust in God to provide,” he explained.
The title Faithful God, he said, reflects not only the central message running through the songs but also his personal testimony.
“God still orders my steps everyday in everything I do, and I believe that I have grown more intimate with Him to understand that what he cannot do does not exist. It is God’s faithfulness that has brought me this far,” he stated.
After spending nearly 18 years away from music recording, Eddie SAnte admitted that putting together a full album came with its challenges, particularly the patience required throughout the recording process.
Still, the rewarding moments made the journey worthwhile, especially hearing the completed mixes for the first time. Of all the tracks, he singled out I See Your Glory as particularly dear to him.
“This album is a miracle and I see God’s hand in it,” he noted.
The album also boasts collaborations on songs such as Afore and the hymn covers Great is Thy Faithfulness and Trust and Obey.
Drawing from his journalism background, Eddie SAnte said songwriting shares similarities with news writing because both require structure, clarity and thoughtful communication.
“When writing a story, the writer considers the headline, lead, body and conclusion. Similar elements come into play when writing a song,” he explained.
The gospel artiste, who returned to recording at age 59 with Afore before releasing I See Your Glory at 60, believes his comeback is proof that purpose has no expiry date.
“There is no late time to begin anything,” he said while encouraging others pursuing ministry or passion projects not to give up on their calling.
Produced by Andrew Nii Sowah with instrumental support from seasoned musicians including Nana Yaw Boateng, Michael Adu-Obuobi, Frank Obeng-King and Emmanuel Tetteh, the album also features backing vocals from Eustacia Odette Smith-Asante, Kukua Sosu, Diana Atsem, Esther Sarpong and others.
As he prepares to officially unveil Faithful God, Eddie SAnte says his greatest hope is that the songs will inspire and uplift listeners.
“God continues to give me songs that will uplift people and I pray that they will do that and more to anyone who listens to the songs from the Eddie SAnte stable,” he said.
