Ghana: New Mpox case recorded, total confirmed infections now 1,075
Ghana has recorded one new confirmed case of Mpox, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 1,075 as of May 19 2026, the Ghana Health Service has announced.
No new deaths were recorded, with total fatalities remaining at eight. No patients are currently on admission.
How Mpox spreads
Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection.
The Ghana Health Service advised the public to protect themselves and others by maintaining good hygiene and reporting any symptoms such as fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and tiredness.
"If you notice any of these, visit the nearest health facility immediately," the Service stated.
