Dr Yaw Stone expressed confidence that the Euro-Afric Festival would reinforce the growing role of cultural diplomacy in advancing peace, strengthening bilateral relations, expanding tourism, promoting trade and creating sustainable development opportunities for Africa and Europe through the universal language of music.
Annual platform for cooperation
The Euro-Afric Festival was established as an annual platform to deepen cooperation between Africa and Europe by promoting dialogue, cultural understanding and long-term partnerships through music and the creative arts.
The initiative seeks to demonstrate the ability of culture to transcend geographical, political and linguistic boundaries, using music as a common language to promote peace, unity and shared prosperity.
It also aims to strengthen collaboration among governments, cultural institutions, development organisations, private investors and creative industry stakeholders in pursuit of sustainable development.
Beyond celebrating artistic excellence, the festival is expected to stimulate economic activity by promoting tourism destinations, facilitating investment opportunities and opening new markets for African creative products and services.
The organisers also envision the festival as a vehicle for creating lasting institutional partnerships capable of supporting youth empowerment, cultural entrepreneurship and innovation within the creative economy, while encouraging greater people-to-people engagement between Africa and Europe.
International showcase
The festival will provide African musicians, performers, fashion designers, artisans and cultural entrepreneurs with an international platform to showcase their talents, products and heritage before global audiences.
Participating countries are expected to mount exhibitions highlighting their tourism attractions, cultural diversity, investment opportunities and creative industries, while businesses from both continents will engage in networking sessions intended to foster strategic partnerships and commercial collaborations.
The event will also feature cultural exchange programmes designed to encourage knowledge sharing and strengthen people-to-people relations between Africa and Europe, reinforcing the role of culture in promoting mutual respect and international understanding.
It is further expected to create opportunities for emerging artistes and creative entrepreneurs to access international markets, forge collaborations with industry players and attract investment capable of expanding Africa’s creative economy.
