Exceptionally designed clothes, sunglasses, footwear and coloured hair would be on parade as merrymakers enjoy the evening while sharing in the multi- cultural atmosphere that usually prevails at the annual event.

Based in Cape Coast, the 23-piece band comprising African Americans from New Jersey is expected to entertain carnival revellers and lovers who will attend the carnival, which has become part of the cultural calendar in Ghana.

Noted for an expedient use of percussive bass tempos that produce additional flavour, the band has been performing in several parts of the country to enthusiastic audiences.

Carnivals have the potential to attract tourists while serving as catalyst for enhancing economic activity. They can equally help sustain the creative sector in Ghana, which has over the past years been recording significant growth rates.

Popular carnivals in Germany are held in southern Germany as well as the Rhineland cities of Mainz, Aachen, Bonn and Dusseldorf.  However, the largest is held in Cologne.

The Valentine’s Day carnival / concert is being sponsored by the Goethe-Institute in Accra.
