“Ghana Book Party” to honour Ghanaian Literary Legends on World Book Day

Celebrated for their immense contributions to Ghana’s literary landscape, distinguished writers Kofi Anyidoho, Martin Okyere Owusu, Ladé Wosornu, and Mawuli Adjei will be honoured as living literary legends at the maiden edition of the “Ghana Book Party.”

The event, organised to mark World Book and Copyright Day, is a collaborative effort between the Ghana Library Authority, Creative Arts Agency, Ghana Commission for UNESCO, and the Ghana Publishing Company.

Designed as a vibrant mini book festival, the Ghana Book Party will bring together readers, writers, and lovers of literature for a day filled with reading sessions, book exhibitions, dramatic readings, performances, and engaging conversations.

Beyond the celebration, the initiative seeks to inspire creativity and strengthen Ghana’s reading culture by spotlighting the achievements of literary icons whose works have shaped generations.

The programme will also feature literary sessions with Linda Ampah and Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, among others, as well as an exhibition of Ghanaian-authored books.

The “Ghana Book Party” is scheduled for April 23, 2026, at the National Children and Mobile Library, Airport, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Special Guest of Honour will be the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu. Participation is free.
