Gospel singer Perpetual Didier appeals to IGP over brother's death

Gospel singer Perpetual Didier is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to intervene in the death of her brother following a police brutality at the West Hills Mall yesterday, January 30.

In a facebook live earlier today, the gospel singer mentioned that her family was devastated about the occurrence and demanded justice.

“Someone should tag the IGP, I need justice for my brother. Tell him that this is the crime one of his men has done to my family by killing my brother.

“We are all Ghanaians with equal rights and freedom, why will you use your position to take someone’s life?” a tearful Perpetual said in the post.

Narrating events leading to the demise of his brother, Perpetual said that the deceased, Shadrach Arloo was scheduled to travel to Germany today, January 31 with two others.

According to her, the deceased had gone to the mall to buy some items he was expected to carry along with him to his host sister in Germany.

On his arrival at the West Hill Mall, however, the police officer stationed there demanded to search the bag with the money.

Basing her claims on eye witness account, the singer said Shadrach refused to be searched by the Police officer.

The officer then hit and pushed his brother, who fell and hit his head heavily on the floor, breaking his neck and lost consciousness. Not concerned about the deceased’s state of helplessness, he applied a taser on him that probably worsened his incapacitated state.

Shadrach is believed to have died from the shock and the brutalities to which Perpetual is demanding justice.

She mentioned that the case has been reported at Kasoa SCC Police station while the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.

Perpetual added that the family will go all out in their demand for justice for the late Shadrach.
