I want to do a show with Shatta Wale before I die - Agya Koo Nimo

What happens when Ghana's Highlife legend meets Dancehall royalty? One thing's for sure - the music world will watch with bated breath.

Well, legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Agya Koo Nimo, has expressed his deep admiration for Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, and has gone a step further to reveal his desire to collaborate with the artiste on a show before he passes on.

 In a recent interview with media personality, Kafui Dey, the 93 year old musician praised Shatta Wale for his authenticity and hard work, stating that he loves the Kakai hit-maker’s music and would be honoured to work with him.

Earlier, when Kafui Dey asked Agya Koo Nimo about his thoughts on Shatta Wale, he didn't hesitate to express his admiration.

 "Shatta Wale, I haven't met him before, but I like him. He tries to be different and do a different thing. I love him because he's real and works very hard. If he doesn’t like you, he will tell you.

“I’ve been even thinking of inviting him to just come and visit me. Tell him that I just want to hold his hand because I love him.

In a heartwarming phone call between the two artistes, Agya Koo Nimo requested to do a show with Shatta Wale before he dies.  (Read Mahama calls for ceremony to celebrate Agya Koo Nimo)

“I’m happy I’ve had the opportunity to talk to you. I’m in a wheel chair but there’s one thing I want you to know. I love you. I love anything you do. God bless you,” he said.

Shatta Wale responded by thanking Agya Koo Nimo for his kind words and promised to visit him soon to honour his request. 

“With this call, I will add to my plans to visit you. And I also want to thank you for giving the young ones the opportunity to be great musicians. For some of us, we respect the legacy you have left ,” Shatta stated.
