I’m not a backup artiste, place my image at the right position - Wiyaala ‘roars’ at event organiser

Ghanaian musician, Wiyaala threatens to back out of an event she’s been billed to perform following her disappointment with placement of her image at the back of other artistes on a promotional artwork.

Wiyaala, who is fondly called the lioness of Africa, expressed her disgust in a Facebook post when she wrote, “Honestly, I’m not happy with this poster circulating on social media. Place my image in the right position or I am out. I’m not a backup artiste”.

The promotional flyer which annoyed Wiyaala was a poster of an upcoming event called, Safarifest by Royal Cosy Hills Safari Resort, in Jirapa of the Upper West region.

It had images of all four billed artistes with the Samini in front and Kuami Euegene following. Wiyaala takes the last place and she obviously not happy about it, insinuating that she is being valued as a backup artiste. (Read I have not been a good father to my daughter – Ofori Amponsah)

Wiyaala’s post attracted diverse opinions with some commentators noting that her position on the flyer didn’t add or take away her value as a musician.

Samini's response

But to calm down tempers, Samini has rendered an unqualified to Wiyaala, explaining that he wasn’t aware of circulation of the artwork.

“I’m honestly not aware of this particular artwork dear sis. Will get the organizers to do the needful. They didn’t even ask me for a picture for this particular artwork. Whoever did it decided to change my #SaminiFest to #safarifest. #safarifest is also my concept but not for January 1st. I wonder who directed and approved this to be shared but All those details need to be addressed before there can be a show. Pls accept my apology and trust me to get them to pull this down asap. Stay blessed and see you in #jirapa soon 😊🙏🏾✊🏾 (sic),” he posted on Facebook.

Wiyaala accepted Samini’s apology and also took down the post to amicably resolve issues.
