It’s ‘Pepper Sugar’ from Blackabino
Blackabino is back on the music scene and this time, he's sizzling with his scorching new single Pepper Sugar.
Blackabino is reigniting the flames with a fusion of lyrical fire and good rhythm, marking a triumphant return to the music scene.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, Blackabino spills the beans on the song's inspiration, crediting a loyal friend who persistently urged him to revive his music career.
“My friend’s persistent encouragement and my passion for music drove me to create Pepper Sugar. This song represents my comeback, and I’m excited to share it with my fans”, he said.
He explained that the idea for the song came during a visit from Australia to Ghana this Easter.
“During my visit, I linked up with Amponsem and we decided to work on something new. Skybeatz joined us, and that’s how Pepper Sugar was born. It shows how much I’ve grown and how serious I am about my music,” he said.
Produced by Skybeatz, Pepper Sugar was officially released on May 20, featuring Amponsem.
Blackabino also took the opportunity to speak on the history of Ghanaian rap, calling for overdue recognition for some of its pioneers.
“While Sarkodie often gives credit to legends like Obrafour and Okomfour Kwadee, we shouldn’t overlook artistes like Quata Budukusu and Okra Tom David. They were the ones who really pioneered the twisting rap style in Ghana.
“Their influence shaped the lyrical complexity we see today. It’s time they get the credit they deserve”, he said
Born Konadu Francis, Blackabino started music in Junior High School and honed the craft during his Senior High School days.
He moved to Accra in 2007 to pursue his music dreams and gained major attention in 2015 with the release of Bugatti Love, a collaboration with Keche and Amponsem, produced by Streetbeatz.
Although Bugatti Love was a significant milestone in his career, it wasn’t promoted well.
He stepped away from music to focus on other things. However, during a visit to Ghana for this year’s Easter celebration, his passion for music was reignited, leading to the release of Pepper Sugar.
