Jacinta excited to be on Lords of the Ribs bill
COMEDIENNE, Jacinta, has expressed her excitement at representing Ghana at the Lords of the Ribs Comedy Festival which will come off at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos Nigeria on September 28 and 29.
Jacinta and her colleague OB (OB Amponsah) are the two Ghanaians selected for the festival, which is being put together by Nigeria’s Basketmouth, and has comedians from the USA, UK and Nigeria on the bill too.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Jacinta said, “I am super excited and nervous at the same time, it is a huge platform and I am going to perform for people who haven’t set eyes on me before. Thanks to God and Basketmouth for giving me the opportunity.
“The exposure is going to be crazy, it will make me work harder. It is the biggest comedy festival in West Africa and it is the first time Ghana is representing. I am the only lady on the bill and I am looking forward to thrilling the audience,” she said.
On what patrons should expect at the festival, this is what Jacinta had to say. “Expect comedy, laughter and good music.”
According to Jacinta, people often ask her how she survives in a male dominated field and that makes her want to do it better and better.
She used the opportunity to advise young people to go after what they want. “I want to tell young people that you can always achieve what you want if you put your mind to it, just go for it,” she stated.
Jacinta is a well-known comedienne of Ghanaian and Nigerian parentage. She has plied her trade in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa and has carved a niche for herself.
She has performed at all major comedy shows in the country including the Easter Comedy Show and Laughline as well as the Charterhouse organised 1000 Laughs and Music.
