Maccasio rocks Tamale at Ninsala album launch
Though young in the music industry, once again, rapper Maccasio proved his mettle at the Tamale Sports Stadium last Saturday, August 19 when he performed to thousands of patrons during the launch of his third album, Ninsala.
‘Ninsala’, which literally means human beings, was undoubtedly the toast of his fans in Tamale and its surrounding areas.
Ninsala explains the nature and character of human beings in regard to trust. For Maccasio, it’s only Allah who is virtually trustworthy and the only one all human beings should put their faith and aspirations in.
The album launch was preceded by a float in the principal streets of Tamale, where more than 100 male and female motorbike riders, displayed their incandescent skills and dexterity. They took over the streets, heralding Maccasio’s presence in town and confirming that the launch was inevitable.
The float, which held businesspersons, drivers, and pedestrians spellbound, also hijacked motor traffic for almost an hour.
And when it was time to jam, the packed stadium was thrilled to bits when the 22-year old musician appeared on stage and displayed to his fans for all his worth.
Sporting a white outfit on stage singing, rapping and dancing with gusto, Maccasio suddenly seemed to have bewitched all his “69 fans”, young, old, weak, and strong, to be on their feet to dance with him. He virtually sent them into a frenzy as he dropped song after song. And with support from colleague musicians such as Medikal, Don Sigli, Choggo Boys, Gaffachi, One 9ra, Mama Rams, Double Boys among others, it was no surprise patrons wanted more even when the show which started at 8pm ended at 4am.
In an interview with Showbiz, his Social Media Manager, Abuabakar Sadik, said the expected patrons at the event was about 15,000 people, hence, they printed just 15,000 tickets.
“But to our surprise, all the 15,000 tickets got finished, and about 5,000 fans had to pay at the gates just to catch a glimpse of their icon.”
Sadik explained that their vision is to break all barriers across the globe to “see Maccasio reach the pinnacle of his musical career”.
“We are not unaware of the fact there are pins and needles along the journey to the top, but we’re working extremely hard to make sure that he gets there. “
He said “we are fully prepared to give him all the necessary support to push him up to become a global musician.”
Tamale-born Maccasi started life as a motor mechanic in Tamale, but somewhere along the line, he discovered his talent in music and rapping.
His record label Zola Music/69 Entertainment is the talk of town and that gave birth to a constant refrain and the popular accolade of Tibiyan wum in the northern regions of Ghana.
Tibinyan wum is Dagbanli, which literally means ‘we won’t listen to anybody’. By extension, no any other music has a pleasing melody than that of Maccasio, and so his fans don’t have the luxury of time to listen to any other music.
In an interview with him at his Zogbelle residence, Maccasio told Showbiz that, “I am not a perfect person, but I am devoted to growth. It is this devotion that keeps my ego in check, keeps me connected to reality, and keeps me in touch with my humanity. It’s OK to celebrate success, but I try as much as I can not to be too smug about it.”
He has been a constant winner at the Northern Entertainment Awards (NEA) and the Northern Music Awards (NMA). Some of the awards include Overall Artiste of the Year, Rapper of the Year, Highlife/Hiplife Artiste of the Year, Best Collaboration Award.
Maccasio has also featured and collaborated with musicians such as Zeal of VVIP, Kofi Kinata and Shatta Wale. Some of his popular tracks are Inside, Work, Too Big, among others.
