Music and Comedy come alive at Night of 1027 Laughs and Music

After a challenging year, it was only right that people look for something to release their stress and the Night of 1027 Laughs and Music, held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, December 26 was the best place to be.

It was a night of great fun mixed with a good dose of music and patrons left the venue feeling lighter than they had when they attended the event.  

Organisers, Charterhouse did not joke with the observation of the COVID-19 protocols, ensuring that social distancing was adhered to as well wearing of nose masks as well as sanitising and the security personnel on duty made sure no one flouted it.

The event had Lynx Entertainment signee KiDi doing what he does best dishing out great music; he was his usual calm self on stage but his voice was super and from his performance, it was evident that a lot of preparation had gone into it.

He connected with the audience and some of the songs he performed such as Sugar Daddy, Say Cheese and Adiepena got the people singing along.

Gospel artiste, Diana Hamilton took her performance to another level and her energetic and spirit-filled performance charged the atmosphere in the auditorium and one would not have been wrong to think it was a gospel revival.

On the comedy side, Foster Romanus, OB Amponsah and Lekzy Decomic did not disappoint, their jokes were on point, they were not lengthy and they were not difficult to comprehend as well. In fact, there was no dull moment in their performances and everyone in the auditorium laughed their hearts out.

As the year is an election one, Foster recapped how the elections came off, reactions of all the parties involved, and in the end stressed how peace is ultimate so everyone should work towards that.

OB Amponsah took patrons through how the various churches operated and it worked for him as a lot of the people could relate. He also touched on why Muslims are perceived as tough and Christians soft.

Nigerians certainly 'no dey carry last' so comedians Bovi, Acapella and Okey Bakassi made sure they represented and their performances were amazing too.

Bovi touched on the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the things it changed, and how people had to adjust to life. He also talked about how it brought out hidden talents in people and ended by encouraging people to take it seriously and observe the safety protocols.

Acapella on the other hand added a touch of music to his performance and it was exciting watching him and Okey Bakassi impress patrons with their jokes on the latest trend among girls and the kind of things social media has exposed people to.
