Music, fashion at flower show
It was billed as an event to promote and deepen the gardening and flower culture in Ghana but this year’s Ghana Garden and Flower Show, which ended last Wednesday, was infused with a fair amount of music and fashion to give patrons more to enjoy than just flowers.
After the official opening and fireworks on Friday, September 9, young singing sensation Cina Soul treated patrons to a night of jazz music with her interpretations of some popular hits.
Not even the occasional rain showers could deter the crowd from the venue.
By late afternoon on Saturday, the park was abuzz as more people walked in not only to shop but to also participate in the highly publicised ‘Party in the Park.’
Deejay for the night, Risky, was at his best as he selected and mixed tunes to the delight of the already excited crowd. After a few hours, the exhibition centre changed into a party zone.
With a variety of food and cocktails to choose from, the party lasted till the early hours of Sunday.
Fashion designers Charlotte Prive, Naa Amerley, Nyira., Dorcas Danks, Afrovolf, Doneal, JermaineBleu and Lawdin thrilled patrons with their beautiful designs on Sunday evening,
This year’s show attracted over 80 exhibitors with an array of flowers, pots, plants, gardening tools and equipment, garden furniture, art pieces, clothes and accessories. There were also workshops and conferences on improving ecotourism.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, who chaired the opening ceremony, said her ministry would foster a closer partnership with the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement to help local florists adequately manage the demand for flowers.
