MUSIGA hosts Nigeriand delegation on study tour in Ghana

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has hosted a delegation from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru, Nigeria who are in the country for a Study Tour on the Creative Economy.

The delegation was led by Prof Dabin Haruna Khitwe, mni.

In his remarks, Prof. Dabin explained that the delegation forms part of Study Group Five of the Institute and belongs to Senior Executive Course 48 since the establishment of the institution. 

He noted that the Institute undertakes annual study tours focused on selected sectors of the economy and governance, based on directives from the President.

He stated that this year’s theme, chosen by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is “The Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” with a strong focus on the intersection of creativity, markets and the global digital economy.

Prof. Dabin further disclosed that the delegation has already engaged with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts as well as agencies under the ministry. He added that similar delegations are currently undertaking related studies in other parts of Africa, with the exercise expected to extend to other regions of the world before a comprehensive report is presented to President Tinubu.

The MUSIGA President, Bessa Simons warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed excitement at hosting such a high-powered delegation from Nigeria. He also shed light on various issues in the Ghanaian music industry including the operations of the Creative Arts Agency (CAC). 


The Director of Special Projects and Communications for MUSIGA, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, briefed the delegation on the structure and operations of MUSIGA, the Union’s collaborations with international organizations such as the International Federation of Musicians (FIM).

Present at the meeting were Rev Eddie Eyison, National Treasurer of MUSIGA and Samuel Kofi Agyemang, General Secretary of MUSIGA. 

Members of the Nigerian delegation included Faculty Members Air Commodore Nwankwo Raymond Chibueze, PhD and Dr. Amaechi Obinna Charles. Other members and participants were Abdulkadir Moshood Olanrewaju, Capt Agbaje Zaid Idowu, Contr Aremu Adegboyea Olayinka, Engr Damo Aliyu Mamuda, Delano Oluyele Obafemi (SAN), Dr Enabulele Osahon, Gp Capt Ganiyu Fatai Ayinla, DCP Isa Garba, Dr Jibrin Balarabe Suleiman, Dr Mundi Sule, Jane Chinwe Okeleke, Col Olasein Mutiu Dotun, Raji Bilkisu Omeneke and Rwang Yop Shom.
