Oak Plaza Hotel ready for Dinner With the Stars

TOMORROW, Friday, August 30, the Oak Plaza Hotel on the Spintex Road, Accra will be where all the fun and excitement can be had as it hosts the fourth edition of the Dinner With The Stars event.

Dinner With The Stars is a night of fine dining and great live band music during which a musician is honoured for their contributions to the industry and  has in the past three years attracted a lot of patronage.

This year, veteran singer Akosua Adjepong is the celebrant and the event is themed: “Celebrating Akosua Adjepong 30@50.”

The Oak Plaza hotel has promised that a great time awaits patrons to the event. Miss Hazel Gumpo is the Chief Operating Officer of Oak Plaza.

“Patrons can expect an open air evening of relaxation with amazing food, good music, finest wines and great company. They will also get a taste of our BBQ galore - a must-do meal experience that bombards the senses with smells, tastes and sounds of Africa.

“You will enjoy a selection of well spiced meats including kebabs, steaks and chicken complimented with our famous succulent guinea fowl and our celebrated chef special Tilapia.

“We are currently polishing glasses, cutlery, and preparing our white gloves and red carpet to welcome all our guests in true celebrity style,” she told Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, August 27.

Dinner With The Stars was initiated by Oak Plaza Hotel in 2016 with the first honoree being K.K. Fosu. In 2017, Amandzeba was honoured and last year, Gyedu Blay Ambolley was celebrated.

According to Miss Gumpo, their motivation for the event was “to promote local talent at all levels as part of social corporate responsibility. We have always worked with the youth (MTN Hitmaker) and Multimedia’s Nsoromma competition but twice a year we celebrate a legend that the youth can aspire to follow.”

On the choice of Akosua Adjepong as this year’s honoree, she said the Frema singer had paid her dues.

“We chose Akosua because she has been in the industry for a very long time. She will be 30 years in music next year and of course our staff and board members also love her music, energy and zeal she brings to the stage,” she stated.

Miss Gumpo said they are continuing with the event because of the opportunities it offers.

“The evenings have been an amazing network platforms for the corporates and a great incentive for companies wishing to incentivise their top performers together with those wanting to do team building.

“They also provide soul food for music lovers, taking them back to the good old days and reminding us all of the treasures and talents within our great nation,” she said.

In an earlier interview with Graphic Showbiz, Akosua Adjepong promised patrons a wonderful show. “I have surprises for the people who will be there. They know what Akosua Adjepong can do but this time they are going to see new things,” she said.

Tickets for the event are going for GHS250 for singles and GHS350 for doubles and they are selling out fast. The Oak Plaza Dinner With The Stars is sponsored by MTN and Graphic Showbiz.
