Ohema, Nabia steal the show

Week five of the Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant took a different twist with  African culture, dance and music as the remaining eight contestants took turns to represent various African countries. 

At the end of the day, Brong Ahafo’s Ohema emerged the Star Performer for the second time, while Northern Region’s Nabia was adjudged the Most Eloquent contestant.

Contestants were expected to give a history of the African countries they represented and the relationship each of those countries had in common with Ghana.

Ohema, who represented La Cote d’ Ivoire, rounded up the night as an Ivorian dancer with a Goli dance.

She narrated the history of the Goli people as well as how their dance came about.

Northern Region’s Nabia,  who displayed  as a warrior, posed as the Red Hunter of Mali and succeeded in impressing the judges.
 
She enlightened her audience and viewers at home about the Mali Empire as well.

 Naa from Greater Accra failed to impress the judges when she came in as a Nigerian football fan who told the history of Nigerian football and how the sport brings all Africans together.

Except for being too loud,  Central Region’s Tewa was once again on top of her game when she performed as a representative of Togo, highlighting some similarities between Ghana and Togo in terms of food, language and tradition.

Eastern Region’s Abena performed as a Ghanaian student who had returned from Ethiopia and narrated her experiences in Ethiopia while highlighting its rich culture and their way of life.

She was followed by Ashanti Region’s Afrah who represented South Africa.
 
She highlighted the impact of South African music and how it had evolved over the years.

Adepa, who is from the Western Region, took on the role of Zambia’s first President, Kenneth David Kaunda, and recounted Zambia’s struggle for independence.

She impressed the judges and audience with her firm grip on the Zambian accent.

And from the Upper East Region, Wekia educated the audience and viewers about the history of Egypt, their food, dance and sports.

She also touched on the history and myths behind the pyramids of Egypt.

There were exciting performances from award-winning rapper, Okyeame Kwame, who kept most patrons on their feet with his performance and also from the Ghana Dance Ensemble.
