Princess Jannis: Creatives must help build excitement around Black Stars
With the FIFA World Cup just days away, creative entrepreneur and CEO of Princess Jannis Foundation and Omega Instant Chocolate Mix, Princess Jannis Acheampong, has called on players in Ghana's creative industry to intensify efforts at rallying support for the Black Stars.
According to her, the national team needs the backing of all Ghanaians, particularly influential figures in the entertainment industry, to boost morale and reignite public enthusiasm ahead of the tournament.
Her call comes at a time when confidence in the Black Stars appears to have waned among some supporters. A recent streak of draws by the national team, coupled with the absence of key players such as Mohammed Kudus and former captain Dede Ayew from the squad, has left many fans uncertain about Ghana's chances at the World Cup.
While a number of musicians have already stepped up to support the team through music, Princess Jannis believes more can be done. She cited artistes such as Kofi Kinaata and Akwaboah, who have released songs to inspire the Black Stars and unite supporters, but urged other creatives to also use their platforms to build excitement around the team.
Speaking in a recent interview, Princess Jannis expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars and their ability to compete with some of the biggest football nations in the world.
"The Black Stars have talented players and a good technical team. As Ghanaians, we must continue to support them and believe in them. Our encouragement can make a huge difference," she said.
She praised the determination and fighting spirit of the players, noting that despite the challenges the team has faced in recent years, they still possess the quality needed to make the nation proud on the global stage.
Princess Jannis urged the players to remain focused, disciplined and united throughout the competition.
"Ghanaians are behind the team fully. We believe the Black Stars can go far if they stay committed and play with confidence," she stated.
She also appealed to football fans to offer constructive support rather than harsh criticism when results do not go as expected.
According to her, positive support from the public can boost the confidence of the squad and inspire them to deliver strong performances throughout the tournament.
Princess Jannis further commended the technical team for their preparations ahead of the World Cup and expressed hope that Ghana would exceed expectations.
She added that football remains one of the strongest symbols of national unity, bringing people from different backgrounds together behind a common cause.
As anticipation continues to build ahead of the tournament, she believes the combined efforts of football lovers and creatives could help generate the excitement needed to inspire the Black Stars to another memorable World Cup campaign.
