The 2011 tourism queen said she had found out that knowledge about the country’s tourism potential in our schools was particularly inadequate. “The subject Tourism in the country gains little attention,”. she said.

She attributed this to “inadequate advocacy and knowledge of our tourist sites, people and country by Ghanaians themselve. From research, 63 per cent of the affluent youth of Ghana aged 13 to 35 have little or no interest in tourism.

Miss Asare was speaking at a forum organised by Konekt Foundation at Anns International School at Kaneshie, Accra, on the theme. “Knowledge of Tourism, People and Culture Equals National Development” which was geared towards encouraging students to know about and take part in domestic tourism.

“This has been my dream since I won Miss Tourism Ghana 2011 and I intend to achieve this dream by educating students; going round schools with a competent team to educate and create increasing awareness on tourism topics through a mechanism called Touritainment”, she said.

The Konekt Foundation’s concentration is on  first and second-cycle institutions and the main objective of this project is to help equip students with skills and knowledge about tourism, people and culture.

Besides winning the Miss Tourism 2011 title, Miss Asare has also been Miss Odwira Adukrom (2007-2009), Miss Eastern Region (2009-2010), Miss Personality at Miss Ghana (2009-2010), and was the Women’s Commissioner for the Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS-2011).

Attaining these laurels paved the way for her to host some seasoned TV programmes such as 4Syte TV on TV3 and Kasahere on Net2 TV .
