ATM Card left behind at crime scene leads to arrests in shocking East Legon murder
The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a Lebanese national, 58-year-old Omar Mikati, who was found dead in his East Legon residence on Friday, June 20, 2025.
According to a statement from the police, a team from the Crime Scene Management Unit (CSMU) was dispatched to the scene where the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood. Forensic evidence was collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest the assailants fled with the victim’s Samsung mobile phone, but left behind two iPhones and a GCB ATM card bearing the name Paul Twumasi Ankrah.
The discovery of the ATM card led to the arrest of Paul Twumasi Ankrah at Samsam Medie. During interrogation, he named his accomplice, Asiedu Henning, also known as Nana Kofi Anum. Henning was subsequently arrested on July 2, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in Kutunse.
Henning is reported to have led police investigators to a location where a knife used in the incident had been disposed of. The knife has since been retrieved and is undergoing forensic analysis.
Both suspects have been put before the Adabraka District Court 1, where they were remanded in police custody. They are expected to reappear before the court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
