Jay-Z selects Kendrick Lamar to headline 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime show

Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the headline performer for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, scheduled for February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This will be Lamar's second appearance at the NFL's biggest event, following his guest performance during Dr Dre’s 2022 hip-hop showcase. However, it will be his first time leading the show, making him only the second rapper ever to headline the prestigious event.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Creative direction for Lamar’s performance will be overseen by pgLang, the creative collective he co-founded. Despite not releasing an album since 2022’s *Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers*, Lamar has remained a significant figure in hip-hop, notably contributing to the chart-topping single “Like That” and engaging in a high-profile rap feud with Drake, which culminated in Lamar’s hit track “Not Like Us”.

The Halftime Show will be broadcast live on Fox and is being executive produced by Roc Nation for the sixth consecutive year as part of their partnership with the NFL. JAY-Z, head of Roc Nation, praised Lamar’s cultural influence, saying, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Apple Music, now in its third year as the show’s title sponsor, will offer fans exclusive content, including videos, interviews, and playlists, to complement Lamar’s performance.
