Roverman Productions discovers 'The Secret Code of Wives’

The topics of love, relationships and marriage feature prominently in plays by theatre company Roverman Productions led by playwright/motivational speaker Uncle Ebo Whyte.

And its latest play, The Secret Code of Wives toes the same line, focusing on marriage, fidelity and other thorny issues.
 
Last year, Roverman Productions put its quarterly plays on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic but came back bigger with the Devil’s Wife in September this year.

And without wasting time, it is premiering The Secret Code of Wives at the National Theatre this Saturday, November 27.

The Secret Code of Wives tells the story of a prominent couple, George and Jasmine, who have been married for 12 years. However, the years of shared bond and sacrifices are not enough to keep George faithful to his wife.

His “woes” begin when he accidentally splashes water on a lady standing by the roadside. He decides to get to know the lady on a deeper level, creating disaffection in his marriage.

As an unhappy wife whose affections are being toyed with, Jasmine hatches a plan to deal with George and that is how the play uncovers the secret code of wives.

The Secret Code of Wives runs on November 27 and 28, as well as on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4, at the National Theatre at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. each day.

Many theatre patrons can anticipate The Secret Code of Wives to be a good show considering that Roverman Productions has increased the interest in theatre over the years with plays such as Unhappy Wives, Confused Husbands, God, You Are Fired, Dora Why?, Devil in the Mirror, Not My Husband as well as Bananas and Groundnuts.

According to Kenneth Nii Saki Sackey, Media Relations Officer for Roverman Productions, this latest play drives the important discussion of faithfulness and commitment in marriage.

“In October, Roverman Productions held internal auditions for the new play and the performances were amazing so patrons should expect nothing short of excellence.

“This is an exhilarating and sensitive play by Ebo Whyte that emphasises the point that a lion does not roar unless it has cause to,” he said.
