Stonebwoy blasts media for fuelling artistes’ rows
Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has questioned why the Ghanaian media seems to focus a lot more attention on promoting feuds and rows in the entertainment industry instead of activities that would enhance the growth of the industry.
The dancehall artiste’s comments come in the wake of growing tension between him and fellow dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, following the release of a video on social media in which Shatta Wale indirectly accuses Stonebwoy of plagiarism because of the Baafira song.
“The media loves negativity, if I had done anything good, no one would call me yet at the first sign of a feud the media is so excited and I am being inundated with calls,” he told Showbiz in an interview last Thursday.
Although Shatta Wale did not mention any names in his video, he claims that the term “Baafira” belongs to another artiste, Rashid Metal, since Rashid Metal was the first to use the term in a song.
Stonebwoy, real name, Livingstone Satekla, acknowledged that he was aware of Shatta Wale’s video but laid the blame on the media for focusing too much on the issue.
“I know what Shatta Wale is trying to do but why is the media helping him? Why does the media keep calling me since the story broke instead of calling Shatta Wale to ask him the reason he released the video? “If they want any information about this issue, they should call Shatta Wale for interviews instead of me,” the Bhim Nation star said.
“Its sad that the only way he can remain relevant is to continuously pick on other artistes and he chooses to pick on artistes who are already established in the game,” he said.
That notwithstanding, Stonebwoy disclosed that he had decided not to respond to the thinly veiled accusations until Shatta Wale directly mentions his name or address him directly.
“Since he didn’t directly mention me in the video, I will decide whether to respond or not and I hope this ends there but if he pushes me to the wall he will know that I’m an Ashaiman boy and not from East Legon,” he warned.
Stonebwoy revealed that he was focused on releasing his album early next year.
“The album is almost ready but I will be releasing it via online platforms like Amazon and iTunes first before I come out with the physical copy for the general public which will be preceded by concerts and listening parties.”
