Target Francophone countries—Black T
UP and coming artiste, Black Tigwe popularly known as Black T is encouraging young talents not to target just Ghana when promoting their works.
Black T who has earned a reputable image in some Francophone countries in Africa believes Ghana is “choked” with content, and that is one good reason why artistes should explore other new markets.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz recently, Black T who has won over a good fan base in Togo with songs such as Kede, Oshee, Boto and Menopoz disclosed that even though he appreciates the tight competition in the music industry, the situation has equally driven away many who cannot keep up.

“It’s tough out there, no amount of soothing words can reduce the burden many young artistes face in this industry.
"I also faced that challenge but at a point, I realised there was the need to sell my product to a new market.
“That was how I found myself doing songs that largely appealed to the Francophone market and I have no regrets doing that.
There are many virgin markets in Africa that we can tap into.
“That is what is working for Nigerian artistes. They moved into other African markets when they felt their market was too overwhelmed and today, they are reaping from that decision,” he stated.
Born and raised in Ashanti Region, Black T, whose real name is Eric Yaw Otu moved to Togo to ply his music trade at a time when he thought the Ghanaian market was “hostile” to him.

Among the many artistes he has featured on some of his works are MINKS (Cameroon), Shado Cris (Côte D’Ivoire), Mike Alabi (Côte D’Ivoire), Floby (Burkina Faso and Vano (Benin).
Black T is also a music producer and beat maker. He is into mixing and mastering and majors in Afrobeats/Afropop, RnB, with heavy use of Francophone beats.
