‘Taste of Ghana 4.0’ festival was very tasty

THERE is no doubt patrons at this year’s ‘Taste of Ghana’ festival held recently at the Forecourt of the State House, Accra, were spoilt for choice.

The free-entry event, organised by Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in partnership with Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) brought together people from all walks of life to experience Ghana from one location.

There was good music, vendors offering diverse flavours of mouth-watering Ghanaian foods, drinks, clothes, fashion accessories, artifacts among others.  

In addition, there were activities such as masquerade performances, cooking competition, fashion show, concert, art exhibition, canopy walk, film, a feel of a museum and the Larabanga Mosque. 

You are greeted with a beautiful set-up on entering the festival grounds. And yes, security was tight on the day making patrons and their properties feel safe. 

The year’s event themed ‘GH:The Africa Dream’ is one of the activities on the list of  ‘December in GH’ programmes.

Some of the patrons Graphic Showbiz spoke to expressed their excitement at being part of he festival.                 According to Mr Douglas Ofori, a business man living in the USA, he came down to Ghana with his family for the Christmas holidays and a friend told him about ‘Taste of Ghana’.                               

 “I had already planned coming to Ghana but I actually didn’t know exactly what to do or the places to go have fun at but when my friend told me about this event, I decided to give it a try with my family and I am glad we did. We are having a good time”, he said.

A student of KNUST, Mary Anane said she wouldn’t miss next year’s edition for anything. 

“I am enjoying myself, I have gone on the canopy walk and participated in some of the games. 

“The only downside is that I don’t have enough money to go on a shopping spree. I have seen some really beautiful ear-rings, bags, sandals and dresses Bu I don’t mone 

I will have to give that agenda a pass”, she added.

The climax of the well-attended festival was a concert featuring some of Ghana’s finest musicians who put up great performances leaving their audience hungry for more. 

Artistes who took turns to give patrons a good time on the night included award-winning Dancehall act, Shatta Wale who was also the headline act, music duo R2Bees, rapper EL, Fancy Gadam, Adina, Gasmilla, Vanilla, Kwesi Filla, Mawuli Music, Eno Barony, Kofi Jamal among others. 

That wasn’t all, patrons were also treated to a fashion show with collections from designers including ZaQi, Kustom Looks Clothier, Selsam Couture, Doramp Fashion House, Brand Wear Ghana and Thembi Republic by musician Adina Thembe.

‘Taste of Ghana’ festival which is in its fourth year aims at showcasing the distinct and authentic traditional richness of made-in Ghana products which do not only tell stories about the rich cultural heritage of Ghana but also provides business and investment opportunities for Ghanaians, its diaspora, and people from all walks of life.
