Anibok Studios, in association with Organized Khaoz Productions, has released the official trailer for King of Tɛma, described as the first feature film produced from Tema, by Tema, and about Tema.
The film, directed and produced by Kobina de Graft-Johnson, is described as a cinematic tribute to the industrial city and a continuation of Ghana’s storytelling heritage. It explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption against the gritty backdrop of a city where ambition, faith, and survival collide.
“We’re not rewriting Ghana’s story; we’re extending it,” said de Graft-Johnson. “Tema has always been a city of builders; now we’re building our stories on screen.”
Set entirely in Tema, King of Tɛma is the first feature film conceived, written, directed, and produced by a native of the city. The director said the project celebrates authenticity, collaboration, and local pride while introducing a bold new cinematic voice from Tema’s creative community.
Media personality Ivy Prosper described the trailer as “raw, authentic storytelling from Tema to the world,” noting its distinct style and emotional depth.
The cast brings together a mix of Ghanaian film veterans and rising stars, including Fred Amugi, Kingsley Yamoah, David “Big Tim” Osabutey, Kweku Elliott, Mynna Otoo, Melvin Dain, and Naya Pratt.
According to the producers, King of Tɛma captures the pulse, pride, and spirit of one of Ghana’s most dynamic cities, telling a story of men navigating faith and ambition in a world where every choice comes with a cost.
The film will premiere first in Tema with an exclusive community screening and celebration at Avalon Gardens, Community 25, on Thursday, November 7, 2025. A red-carpet event will follow at Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall, on Friday, November 14, with additional screenings at Silverbird Cinemas at West Hills Mall the same evening.
Anibok Studios, founded by de Graft-Johnson, is a media and film production company focused on telling authentic African stories that honour Ghana’s creative legacy while empowering future generations. The company says its collaboration with Organized Khaoz Productions underscores a shared mission to strengthen Ghana’s storytelling ecosystem “one film at a time.”
