The show Panji Anoff produced
For live show patrons used to programmes starting late and running deep in the night, last Saturday’s Allianz Awards event at the National Theatre was a lesson in how events could take off on time and be delightfully delivered in a reasonable amount of time.
Produced by Panji Anoff of Pidgen Music, the event was to recognise and celebrate Ghanaians who through passion, determination and hard work, had attained success in a variety of fields despite the immense challenges that confronted them.
Panji Anoff brought his wide experience in showbiz to bear on proceedings and he was able to deliver what can be described as one of the best-produced shows so far this year in the nation’s capital.
Emcees Anita Erskine and Kafui Dey were not carried away by unnecessary long talk. They stuck to what they needed to be said, making the function move at an admirably fast pace.
The performing artistes: Alexia, Haywaya, Cina Soul, Lady Jay, Efya and M.anifest kept to the number of songs rehearsed for the programme which was presented in about two hours. It was definitely a night of enjoyable music packaged to please the guests.
Those awarded on the night for braving various odds to achieve remarkable feats were Black Stars Team Manager, Stephen Appiah; powerlifter, Charles Narh Teye and paracyclist, Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah.
Others were disability-rights advocate, Farida Efua Bedwei; international human rights activist, Brigitte Sossou Perenyi and investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Each of them received a plaque, an insurance package from Allianz Insurance Ghana and sponsors’ products.
