Businessman and former presidential aspirant Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has urged highlife star Kuami Eugene to carry forward the legacy of the late music icon Daddy Lumba.

During a visit to Daddy Lumba's residence, where both men paid their respects after the singer's recent passing,

 Cheddar encouraged Kuami Eugene to continue the rich musical heritage pioneered by Daddy Lumba.

Cheddar offered words of encouragement, telling Kuami Eugene, "The torch is yours now. Continue the legacy," a gesture that has resonated deeply with fans and netizens

Kuami Eugene, deeply influenced by Daddy Lumba's legacy, was visibly humbled by Cheddar's words of encouragement, having frequently paid tribute to Lumba's impact on his music career. 

As the mastermind behind the hit song "Monica," Kuami Eugene is widely regarded as a leading figure in the new generation of artists who are not only preserving but also innovating within the highlife genre.

The home of legendary highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, in East Legon continues to draw a steady stream of mourners as more personalities from various sectors pay tribute and sign the book of condolence opened in his honour. (Read Sympathisers pour into Lumba’s home)

The mood remained solemn, with red and black drapery swaying gently in the breeze, while the soft hum of his timeless songs played in the background, reminding all of the man whose voice became a soundtrack to Ghana’s journey.

The likes of Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; media personality and satirist, Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM); the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus; media personality and Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD); veteran highlife musician, Pat Thomas; contemporary hiplife singer, Wendy Shay; gospel musician, Philipa Baafi; gospel music group, Daughters of Glorious Jesus; artiste manager Bullet, and Hitz FM presenter, Andy Dosty have been there.

On Friday, August 1, 2025, former President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  visited the family of Daddy Lumba to commiserate with the family.
