GOSPEL musician, Eric Kwesi Akorful Abba is calling on churches to support talents in the church or risk losing them to the world.

Eric who is also Head of Music at Church of Pentecost, Labone English Assembly, in Accra, mentioned that a number of young talents from the church have been forced to switch to secular music due to lack of support and that development is causing a bad reputation for the fraternity.

“Yes churches should really support up and coming artistes because I believe they have the resources to push them. There are lots of musicians with very great contents but are not able to come out because of funding.

“I personally believe the church can help by supporting the careers of these musicians who diligently serve the church with their gifts,” he told Graphic Showbiz in an interview recently.

According to Eric, churches can strike a deal with the artistes through contracts to share proceeds from their works after investing in their careers.

“I know Nigerian Gospel singer Sinach is under Christ Embassy, MOG Music gets huge support from Royal House Chapel just to mention a few. If the other churches emulate this gesture by investing in artistes, I’m very certain many musicians who are forced to do secular music will stay Gospel”, he said.

Although he is yet to release an album, Eric has performed on platforms like Oil of Worship, Power in His Presence, Wages of Worship, Alter Experience In His Presence, Hoghogon, Unceasing Praise, Live Worship on Penny GH among others.
