Top GH gospel acts for Praise Achievement Awards

Some of Ghana’s finest gospel musicians have been selected to perform at the second edition of the Praise Achievement Awards aimed at honouring African gospel musicians in and outside Africa who have excelled in the year under review.

Scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 27 at the Oil Dome, Royal House Chapel, in Accra, musicians billed to perform are Tagoe Sisters, Nacee, Obaapa Christy, Celestine Donkor, MOG Music, Perez Music and Scott Evans.

The others are Cindy Thompson, Joe Mettle, ACP Kofi Sarpong, Ohemaa Mercy, Diana Hamilton, Piesie Esther, Alvin Slauchter from the USA and Ntokozo Mbambo from South Africa.

Contesting for Artiste of the Year are MOG Music, Piesie Esther, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Celestine, Bethel Revival Choir, Perez Music and Ohemaa Mercy.

Other categories are Radio Presenter of the Year, and in contention are JJD from Sunny FM, Kweku Sampson (Sweet Melodies), Franky 5 – Hitz FM, Martin – Spirit FM, Nii Noi Dennis – Sunny FM, Fiifi Folson- Joy FM, Agyeman- Sunny FM, John K – Beach FM.

In all, 42 awards will be presented on the night and the CEO of Praise Achievement Awards, Mr Dennis Anderson, told Graphic Showbiz at the nominees’ announcement at Osu Presby on Sunday, September 24, that he aims to honour and celebrate the works of gospel artistes.

“Apart from gospel musicians, there are other categories such as Best Christian Blogger, Best Presenter, Best Choir, Best Instrumentalist and Christian Radio Station of the Year, among others. I want everyone working hard in the gospel fraternity to be awarded. We had a great show last year and I can assure you that this year will be massive,” he said.

Nana Yaw Boakye, better known by his stage name MOG Music, won the Artiste of the Year award at the maiden edition last year.

There were also performances by Sinach and Preye from Nigeria, Joe Mettle, Diana Hamilton, Ohemaa Mercy, MOG Music and Sonnie Badu at last year’s show.
