Top Ghanaian DJs applaud Brittany Bola’s ‘Evolution’ album at exclusive listening event
The vibrant sounds of Ghana’s music scene reverberated through the night as top DJs gathered to support the debut album of rising US-based Afrobeats star, Brittany Bola.
The exclusive album listening event, held recently, attracted some of the biggest names in Ghanaian radio, including DJ Mono of Starr FM, DJ Faculty from 3FM, DJ Bridash of Hitz FM, DJ Phletch from Okay FM, and DJ Ganj of YFM.
These tastemakers, renowned for shaping the soundscape of Ghanaian music, were present to offer their approval of Brittany Bola’s recently released Evolution album.
The album, which features nine dynamic tracks, marks a significant milestone in Brittany Bola's career.
The artist's dedication to her craft is evident in the project, blending deep-rooted Ghanaian rhythms with global sounds that reflect her diverse musical influences.
Notably, the video for her song Reason is already out, adding to the excitement surrounding the release.
During the event, Ubuntu CEO Carl Shackleton shared his thoughts on the role of DJs in the music industry, emphasising their critical role in bringing music to the masses.
“These DJs are the tastemakers to the people,” Shackleton said.
“I live in the future. What I mean by that is when I create the track, when I produce a song, I put it out two years later. I have to wait to play catch-up to myself because, a lot of the time, when you do it tonight, the world is not ready to receive it tonight. So you are the tastemakers; all I can do is create it, and I meant it sincerely when I said earlier that I would like the tastemakers to eat with me. All the tastemakers have to eat with me.”
Shackleton also shared his long-term vision for Ubuntu, the creative platform behind Brittany Bola’s project.
“It’s not just a month, a week, or a promotion for a little bit,” he continued. “This is going to go on for the next twenty years. Ubuntu is here to stay; we’re not going anywhere.”
The DJs in attendance were clearly impressed by the musical direction Brittany Bola is taking. DJ Mono praised the versatility of the tracks, while DJ Faculty highlighted the international appeal of the album.
“Brittany’s sound is something fresh. It’s global, yet very much rooted in who she is as an artist,” said DJ Faculty. “We’re definitely going to support this project to the fullest.”
DJ Bridash, known for his keen ear for hits, commented on the album’s ability to transcend genres.
“Brittany has something special here. She’s able to blend different sounds effortlessly. The future of Ghanaian music is in good hands.”
DJ Phletch echoed similar sentiments, saying, “This is the type of music that speaks to people across borders. It’s fresh, authentic, and exactly what the world needs to hear right now.”
As the event wrapped up, the DJs reaffirmed their commitment to promoting Brittany Bola's album.
“We’ll make sure these tracks reach the ears of everyone who matters,” DJ Ganj promised. “This album has the potential to be a game-changer for the Ghanaian music scene.”
Brittany Bola, whose sound embodies a fusion of Afrobeats, highlife, and international influences, has already garnered attention for her innovative approach to music.
Her debut album, Evolution, is more than just a collection of songs—it is a statement of her artistic growth. With the backing of some of Ghana’s top DJs and the powerful Ubuntu platform, the album is poised for both local and international success.
