Volta Region has potential to become Ghana's stronghold of economic tourism - GTA CEO

The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has emphasized the Volta Region's potential as a major tourism hub, citing its rich heritage, festivals, landscapes, and cultural assets.

Speaking at the 2025 Volta Investment Summit, she highlighted three priorities for unlocking the region's full potential: Sustainable Eco-Tourism, Heritage Protection, and Job Creation, Digital Visibility and Global Promotion, and Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships.

The CEO announced GTA's digital transformation through the Ghana Tourism Information System (GTIS), featuring seven groundbreaking projects, including a website for verifying licensed facilities, a license portal, and a cashless booking platform. She emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "When locals are investors, employees, and service providers — not just spectators — tourism development becomes truly transformative."


The Summit aimed to promote the Volta Region as an attractive investment destination, showcasing its unique cultural identity and economic opportunities. The CEO expressed optimism about the region's future, saying, "The Volta Region is ready. Ghana is ready.


" I commend the Regional Coordinating Council for championing this agenda, and I reaffirm the Ghana Tourism Authority(GTA) readiness to deepen collaboration.
