VP Bawumia backs Tamale Chef's audacious cook-a-thon record attempt

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended financial support of GH₵30,000 to Abdul-Razak Failatu, known as Jah Bless Faila, to fuel her ambitious attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

Jah Bless Faila, hailing from Tamale, faces a demanding five-day culinary feat requiring a substantial quantity of food items and cooking equipment. Dr. Bawumia's timely contribution aims to alleviate these costs and bolster her endeavour.

On Monday, in Tamale, Minister of State Dr. Amin Adam (MP for Karaga) and Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Sani Alhasan Shaibu, representing Dr. Bawumia, presented support to Jah Bless Faila. Dr. Amin Adam later took to Facebook to share pictures of the event and implore the public to rally behind Faila's remarkable pursuit.

Before her midday kick-off on Monday, January 1, Dr. Bawumia himself took to his Facebook page to offer personal encouragement, writing: "Faila, I wish you all the best in your attempt to set a new world record with your cook-a-thon. It is possible to break the barrier and claim victory. Go for gold, Jah Bless!"

This is not Dr. Bawumia's first instance of supporting young Ghanaians chasing extraordinary feats. He previously extended similar support to Afua Asantewaa, who stunned the world by singing for a staggering 126 hours, in an attempt to establish a new world record for the longest singing marathon.

Beyond financial backing, Dr. Bawumia was also one of the high-profile figures to visit Afua at the Sing-a-thon venue (Akwaaba Village), offering his personal cheers and unwavering encouragement. Afua currently awaits official confirmation of her feat by Guinness World Records.

Following Afua's singing marathon, Dr. Bawumia further solidified his support by gifting her and her husband an all-expenses-paid, one-week vacation at the luxurious Royal Senchi resort.
