Accra is set for a major musical climax this December as legendary performers Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Rocky Dawuni, Wiyaala and Amadzeba Nat Brew headline this year’s African Festival Concert, scheduled for December 30, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Billed as the grand finale of the three-day African Festival, the concert is already being described by organisers as “a landmark Pan-African music night” and is expected to attract thousands of music lovers, diaspora visitors and international tourists as part of Ghana’s globally recognised Detty December season. Gates will open at 7pm, with performances beginning at 8pm.
The African Festival Concert brings together a multi-generational lineup of influential African artistes, offering what organisers describe as a rare cross-cultural musical experience. The headliners include Yvonne Chaka Chaka, widely celebrated as the Princess of Africa, four-time Grammy nominee Rocky Dawuni, Wiyaala, known as the Lioness of Africa, and Ghanaian highlife legend Amadzeba Nat Brew. They will be joined by Bessa Simons of the iconic Osibisa band and Accra-based live outfit The Adaha Band.
According to the organisers, the concert is designed to blend heritage, rhythm, dance and cultural pride, positioning the night as one of the defining highlights of Detty December in Ghana and a celebration of African excellence on a global performance scale.
The concert forms part of the wider African Festival, which runs from December 28 to 30 at the Accra International Conference Centre and has been curated as a comprehensive Pan-African cultural experience. The programme opens on December 28 with Don Quixote Africa, an African adaptation of the classic novel reinterpreted through the Gonja Kingdom by playwright Latif Abubakar, followed on December 29 by The Second Coming of Nkrumah: The Musical, a theatrical production imagining the return of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
Beyond the stage performances, festival-goers will have access to a range of cultural attractions, including The Den of History featuring storytelling and film screenings, camel rides and a desert-themed experience, iconic African installations, a contemporary art and craft market, an African food village, and a dedicated children and family experience zone.
The African Festival Concert is being presented by Globe Productions in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority, ECOWAS Bank, MoMo, the Embassy of Spain and Joy Entertainment. The organisers say the collaboration underscores the festival’s role in advancing Ghana’s creative economy, cultural diplomacy and international tourism appeal.
With Accra increasingly regarded as Africa’s cultural capital each December, cultural analysts believe the event will further strengthen Ghana’s position as a leading destination for festive tourism. Tickets are currently on sale at GHS 300 for standard access and GHS 500 for VIP, with organisers cautioning that demand is high and tickets are expected to sell out ahead of the event.
