Secret of concentration

A leader must recognise that many things will try to capture his attention.

A leader must, therefore, apply the principle of concentration to everything he does.

A leader understands the essence of focusing on one thing until he has achieved it.

You must bring all your forces to bear on what you are doing until you achieve it.

You must decide to focus on one thing at a time.

Concentration will bring you great success!  

Examples, secret of concentration

• Concentration is a biblical principle.

Concentration is bringing all efforts, faculties and activities to bear on one thing or activity.

Concentration was a principle used by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus accomplished the greatest feat ever known to man through the principle of concentration.  

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem. Luke 9:51.

He concentrated on His mission to shed His blood for the sins of the world.

He did not dilly-dally!  He did not hang around!

He did not try to be popular!  After thirty-three years on this earth, He focused on His mission of dying on the cross; He went to Jerusalem and gave Himself up.  

• Jesus concentrated on what He was sent to do and injected urgency into all His projects.

He did not waste time on Gentiles. He concentrated on the Jews.  

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 10:5-6

• The apostle Paul concentrated on his course and finished it.  

Many people do multiple “courses” and try to achieve many different things which they are not called to.  In this lies the tendency of not finishing.  Dear leader, concentrate on your goal and finish it!      

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4:7.

•The apostle Paul could have done many things in ministry, but he concentrated on one thing. He forgot about all that had happened in the past and concentrated on the future.

This is the principle of concentration at work.       

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13.

Lessons on concentration

i. Every great human achievement is the result of concentration.  Every great military battle is won by bringing all forces to concentrate on a single objective.

ii. Every great ministry accomplishes things for God by concentrating on a single vision.

iii. Concentration makes people work faster.  The faster you work, the more energy and interest you will have.

The slower you work, the more tired and uninterested you become.

IV. The more suspensions and delays to projects, the more discouraged everyone becomes.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 

v. Concentration depends solely on the ability to distinguish between the relevant and the irrelevant.

Anyone who cannot decide on what is important will never use the power of concentration.  

Do not be deceived by the pressure of urgent calls, requests, invitations, emergencies and crises.

Urgent things are not usually important in the total picture, and important things are seldom urgent.

vi. The greatest thief of concentration is the telephone.

Do not let it distract you from what you are doing.

These days, there are so many things ready to distract you on the phone.

vii. Inject urgency into all your projects.

This will make people concentrate on the task.

viii. Unfinished projects break concentration.

The last uncompleted aspects of projects are often the cause of a future loss of concentration.

They distract you and pull you into the past.  

ix. In the name of good works and being socially acceptable, the Church has divided its attention into four main areas: health, education, relief services and Christian teaching.

If only the Church were to once again concentrate on her God-given goal of “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,” it would be able to achieve its set goals!

x. Concentration makes everything grow

Great achievers are people who are focused on one thing for a long time.

When you focus on one thing, people will accuse you of being unfriendly.

They will say that you are inward-looking and unpatriotic. 

They will say that you are anti-social.

Take no notice of them!  Concentrate on what you are doing.  Wisdom is justified by her children.

Concentration is the key to great achievement.

You must learn the art of concentration.

Concentrate on your vision! Bring all your forces to bear on your mission!  Concentrate on your church.

Concentrate on your work and you will have great results. 

Never forget that concentration brings growth!
