Simplify pension increment
I have heard and read about the increase in the monthly take-home pension money by 10 per cent across the board for those on SSNIT payroll as of December 31, 2025.
What is confusing to most pensioners is the six per cent rate plus a redistribution amount of GH¢91.56 of the remaining four per cent.
My knowledge of a Redistribution Policy in policy analysis is that an asset is kept and given out according to need or level of deprivation.
In this case which bulk money is SSNIT “holding and wants to redistribute”?
Some of us worked at high levels at the government sector for about 40 years before going on retirement.
Yet our monthly pension is nothing to write home about.
The formula given by SSNIT is confusing many pensioners in Ghana.
Can they come out with a more simple explanation for all to understand it simply.
We need a more transparent method of this increment.
Thank you.
