I pledge to accept GJA election results - Kofi Yeboah

On Friday, September 29, 2017, members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in good standing will go to the polls to elect national and regional executive officers. This comes after months of controversy over the election. As we prepare for the polls, I respectfully urge members to vote in the best interest of the GJA.

I also urge members to vote for me as the General Secretary of the GJA. I have the qualities suited for the job: I am respectful, respectable, humble, hard-working, visionary and achiever. I desire to work for members; I desire to serve members, and I desire to leave a positive legacy for the good of the GJA. A vote for me is a vote for progress.

I hereby pledge to accept the results of Friday’s election. I make this pledge after sober reflection on, and thorough appreciation of, the fact that the outcome of Friday’s election will not be the end of the world to me. Indeed, it should not be the end of the world to anybody. Rather, it should be the beginning of healing wounds, forging unity and building consensus within the inky fraternity. I encourage my colleague candidates in the election to be similarly committed.

I also wish to assure all and sundry that, if by the grace of God and benevolence of members’ thumb, I am elected as General Secretary, I am ready to work with whoever is elected into office. I have always been a team player. Fortunately for me, I have had very close working relationships with almost all the candidates contesting for the national elections, particularly those contesting for the presidential slot. So I have no difficulty whatsoever working with any of them. And I will do my utmost best to support a team effort to lift the GJA to a higher level.

The GJA is bigger than any individual member of the Association. And it is important we endeavour to uphold the utmost interest of the GJA at all times.

May the good Lord bless us all.

Signed:
Edmund Kofi Yeboah
(Aspiring GJA General Secretary)
