Police kill five suspects in Nairobi overnight incidents

At least five suspects have been shot dead in Nairobi in separate incidents in the last 12 hours.

On Monday night at around 8pm, police shot dead two suspects while one of them escaped with gunshot injuries.

A motorist, Alfred Kilonzi, was driving from Dandora to Kayole when his vehicle developed a mechanical problem at the railway crossing. He managed to start the vehicle before he was attacked by three young men armed with machetes and a homemade gun.

He drove away and alerted the police who rushed to the scene and shot the two of them dead.

The bodies, which were not immediately identified, were taken to the City mortuary.

KANGEMI INCIDENT

On Tuesday morning at around 2.30am in Kangemi, police shot dead three suspects while two others escaped on foot.

Dagoretti OCPD Rashid Mohamed said the five suspects, armed with crude weapons and a Ceska pistol, raided M-Club and robbed the patrons of cash and other valuables.

They then raised alarm and police responded, shooting the three suspects dead.

The pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, a spent cartridge of 9mm calibre and the items that had been stolen from the patrons were recovered.

PANGANI FIRE

Elsewhere, a fire broke out in Pangani’s Racecourse Estate and at a café in Kamukunji, destroying property of unknown value, police reported.

In Pangani, at least 15 houses were burnt down though nobody was injured. The fire started at around 10pm on Monday night.

At Eva’s café in Kamukunji, the fire which started at around 11pm is suspected to have been as a result of an electric fault.
