Two Egyptian army officers killed
Two Egyptian military officers were killed and three army recruits were injured yesterday morning in two separate incidents in Cairo and Qaliubiya, as security forces are anticipating anti-government protests by the Salafi Front,the country’s state media has reported.
The first incident took place in Gisr Al-Suez Street in Cairo, as unidentified assailants fired at an army patrol, killing a brigadier-general and injuring two conscripts.

In Abu Zaabal district in Qaliubiya another officer was shot and soldier injured in a drive-by shooting. They were part of a mobile patrol to secure the area, according to state media.
In an updated statement, the Ministry of the Interior announced yesterday morning that they arrested 145 suspects charged with “inciting violence”, and that eight bombs in different governorates were diffused.
The Salafi Front promised to stage a new wave of demonstrations to restore “the Islamic identity and sharia yesterday. —Al Haram, Egypt.
