The association also aims at informing Africans and non-Africans about the cultures and realities on the African continent through movies, books, art exhibitions, dinners, sporting activities and charities.

At an African Women Night organised by the association, women from the various African counties in Beijing showcased the beauty of the African woman with their traditional costume and dance as they mounted the rostrum country by country.

Ghana was not left out in the show as some Ghanaian women adorned in their kaba, supported by some male Ghanaians danced to highlife tunes to the admiration of all.

Addressing the gathering, the President of the Association, Mrs Tehia Née Tano Siolonils encouraged African women to rise up and shine wherever they found themselves on the globe.

"We cannot afford to be left behind when women all over the world are struggling to rub shoulders with their male counterparts", she stated.

She gave assurance that the association would be used to contribute to the narrowing of the widening socio-cultural gap between African countries and China.

The Gabonese Ambassador to China, Mr Jean-Robert Goulongana, who is the patron of the Association asked members to use it to create a space for sharing and solidarity among African women living in Beijing.

He also asked them to promote the rich African heritage to their Chinese friends to encourage them to visit the continent to boost tourism.

Mr Goulongana observed that the association had amply demonstrated the ability of African women to rise up to many challenges.

He urged them to create a friendship between Chinese women groups to enable them learn from their experiences for the benefit of the continent.
