Watch the moment WWE legend Hulk Hogan ripped off his shirt and called Trump his ‘Hero’

Hulk Hogan, the iconic entertainer who captivated wrestling fans in the 1980s and '90s, made a surprising appearance on the political stage at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night.

Speaking just before Donald Trump was set to accept the party’s nomination, Hogan delivered one of the most energetic speeches of the convention, referring to Trump as his “hero” and a “gladiator.” In a move reminiscent of his wrestling days, Hogan tore off his shirt, drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Hogan’s appearance came less than a week after an assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. “What happened last week when they took a shot at my hero and tried to kill the next President of the United States?” Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, said. “Enough was enough. Run wild, brother. Let Trump-a-mania rule again.”

Revealing a Trump-Vance shirt underneath his torn attire, Hogan explained that the assassination attempt spurred him to speak out. “I tried to stay out of politics, but after everything that's happened to our country over the past four years and everything that happened last weekend, I can no longer stay silent,” he said.

Reflecting on his career, Hogan added, “Over my career, I've been in the ring with some of the biggest, baddest dudes on the planet. Donald Trump is the toughest of them all. They've thrown everything at Donald Trump, all the investigations, the impeachments, the court cases, and he's still standing and kicking their butts.”

Hogan’s presence added a dose of spectacle and nostalgia to the convention, which also featured speakers like Linda McMahon, matriarch of the wrestling empire, and UFC President Dana White.

Trump has a longstanding connection with professional wrestling, having been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. In his acceptance speech, he said, “I consider this to be my greatest honor of all.” Trump has participated in several combat sporting events over the years, including the “Battle of the Billionaires” at WWE’s WrestleMania in 2007, where he took down Vince McMahon, co-founder of WWE. Trump attended a UFC fight just two days after being convicted of a felony in May, receiving a large ovation from the packed crowd.
