How hungry is your hunger?
Hunger is a burden. It is a thought that consumes people and sets them on fire. Hunger is the force that drives a (wo)man. It predicts their destiny ― the impact they will make. Hunger is passion. It makes them go hungry for days.
Hunger is what keeps you awake when everyone else is snoring. It is the destination one sees that others cannot. When a (wo)man is hungry, they place their emptiness above everything. Until this emptiness is satisfied, they know no rest. No amount of loss is enough to let them give up.
Hunger is not an empty stomach. It is an empty heart. It is a heart that identifies a need wherever it finds itself. Hunger is what sees an invisible solution when all everyone sees is a visible problem.
It is the energy that makes one go the length no one is willing to travel and make sacrifices no one is willing to make. How hungry is your hunger?
Life is fueled by hunger. Every transformation in this world is a product of hunger ― not hunger of the stomach but of the heart. When people are hungry to change the fortunes of their community, they are restless until their dreams become a reality.
Those who are hungry at heart will always lead those whose hunger is in their stomach. Every society thrives on the hunger of its people. A society without hunger will experience little or no impact. The more people dream and chase after great things, the greater society becomes.
The movers and shakers of society are remembered for what they are/were hungry about.
Hunger looks for no comfort ― its only comfort is to get to its destination. It does not wait for the perfect boat to set sail. When all others have the perfect excuse to give up, hunger says, “One more time!” Even when the storms are raging, hunger sees the future and not the present.
Life has no place for people who have no hunger in their hearts. The world has no place for those who only want to fill their plates. The height we will climb in life is largely dependent on the depth of our hunger.
Hunger is anger. It makes us angry at poverty. It makes us despise systems that do not work. The day people get angry about weak institutions, they will rise and destroy the weak foundations.
When we are filled with hunger, we are passionate not only about the challenges but also the solutions, too.
Each day, we must remind ourselves how hungry we should be in life. We must be hungrier than the setbacks that befall us. No amount of weight should sink our hunger.
Those who have achieved great things were not extraordinary. They are not superhumans. They only had extra oil in their lamps to keep their hunger aflame when everyone else died out. The secret to greatness is how long our oil of hunger will keep burning in the face of the storm.
When a (wo)man’s hunger is driven by an empty stomach, a loaf of bread is enough to satisfy them. When their hunger is driven by an empty heart, however, they need a bakery to satisfy them because they live their lives beyond self.
Hunger is beyond the self. It raises nations and disrupts the norm. It breaks records and sets new ones. It raises giants. Out of the bosom of hunger, people are built.
Hunger is more than a desire. It is good to have desire; however, it is not enough. Having the desire to reach a certain destination, for instance, is not enough. Hunger is what will take you there.
Hunger does not run on the wheels of hope because hope is not a strategy. Hunger plans. It strategises and dutifully follows through with its strategies.
Hunger learns, unlearns, and relearns. It falls, but surely rises after each fall. Hunger does not wait for opportunities. It creates opportunities and maximises every single one that comes its way.
It does not wait for others to do what it can do for itself. Hunger is the force behind every invention. It does not count the number of times it fails. The counting only begins when it succeeds.
Hunger is not complacent. It perceives every new level as just another phase of a starting point. Until hunger has conquered the world, it does not call itself king.
Complacency is a killer of hunger. It mentally positions you at the finishing line when you are physically nowhere near the starting line. It makes you perceive a small leap as a gigantic one.
Greatness is borne out of hunger. When we are hungry to change systems, our longing soon becomes a reality. We stand out from the crowd who are comfortable with the norm. There is a need wherever life places us. When that need finds a place in our heart, it becomes a hunger.
Out of this hunger are born solutions that impact lives.
Greatness is not beyond anybody, however young or old. As long as there is always a need, there is always an opportunity to be great.
Wherever there is a need, you can either complain about it or change it. The table of greatness has a seat for only those who change things ― those who find a solution to the needs around them.
Be a solution. If your hunger does not meet a need, it will create a need. You will end up as another problem that needs to be solved if your hunger is far from making this world a better place. Be hungry enough to be the reason others desire to live.
If you want to be the best in your field, be hungry enough. Do not be desperate, but be hungry. Desperation makes you vulnerable. Hunger will make you daring and strong.
Desperation will make you want to trade anything for a morsel of bread. Hunger, on the other hand, will only sit at the negotiation table if it is about owning the bakery.
The world is too big a stage to play small. Until we become a gift with our gifts, we are not ready to depart from this earth. I am a hungry man ― a very hungry man. Are you, too?
